Some of the pupils from our 5th & 6th Classes gathered fallen leaves and bark from the side of our school yard and relocated some of it to a suitable location to create a space for a hedgehog nest area.

As we begin our final preparations for our Green Schools Biodiversity Flag application, we welcomed our Green Schools Committee to their first meeting of the new school year. They are working very hard to help us obtain our next flag – well done everyone!!

Our thanks to Donegal Town Credit Union for their very generous donation of €1,000 towards our Green School Biodiversity Projects. Donegal Town Credit Union have always been great supporters of our school and we were delighted to receive this donation. Our thanks to Gabriel, Sandra and Alana for coming to school for the presentation of the cheque.

The children of 3rd & 4th Classes picked their vegetables this week. They were delighted with their home grown produce!

The children of Junior & Senior Infants learned about habitats. We made our own ‘Jungle’ and ‘Under the Sea’ art displays.

We let our grass grow during the month of May to take part in ‘No Mow May’ to support biodiversity.

Junior & Senior Infants planted pea seeds. We have looked after them by watering them and making sure they got plenty of sunlight. We are taking them home to plant them in our gardens.

The pupils here at St. Naul’s always plant various flowers and vegetables as part of our school garden. This has continued as part of our Green Schools Project on Biodiversity. The children of 3rd & 4th Classes have planted onions, as well as potatoes and strawberries. We are hoping for a big crop!
