Yesterday we held our Book Fair at the school. This was a great chance for the children to buy their favourite books and for the parents and guardians to come along and support the school. The school will earn commission on all the books purchased at the fair and we will now be able to buy new books for the school. Thank you so much to all the parents, guardians and grandparents who came along on the day to buy books. We are very grateful for your support.

Every year we ask the families of the school to donate to the Christmas Shoe Box Appeal. These boxes are delivered to children in need in Eastern Europe and Africa. As always, we received a great response. Here are some of the children with some of the boxes! Thank you very much to every one who donated.

Every year the children of 5th & 6th Classes write a book for each child in the Infant Room. Every Senior pupil is paired with a Junior or Senior Infant. They interview them, and then write a story which is typed into a short book with pictures tailor made for each Infant! All the 5th & 6th Class pupils enjoy this project and hopefully the Infants will enjoy their books when they are ready! Preparations have started with the interview stage!

We took two separate tours this year to the same venue – Finn Valley Centre. All the children took part in a day of sporting activities and games and some of them even got to meet boxer Jason Quigley and see the coastguard helicopter up close!
Our thanks to the Parents Association for their contribution towards the cost of the buses for the tours. The children all had a fantastic day out and arrived home happy and tired!

The children of 5th & 6th Classes held a cake sale at the school recently where they all baked at home and sold their ‘goodies’ to the pupils and staff of the school. They wanted to make a donation to a local charity from the money raised and decided to donate to the Bluestack Foundation.
Well done to all the pupils to baked the cakes and buns, and for making their donation to the Bluestack Foundation – a very worthwhile local charity.
