Girls Indoor Football County Final
Girls Indoor Football County Final

20161212_121827

Our U11 girls Indoor Football Team competed in the County Indoor Football final blitz in Burnfoot on Monday 12th December. The girls qualified for this by winning the Southern Division and competed against five other regional winners on the day. The girls defeated Glengad and Fintown to progress to the County Final against Scoil Iosagaín Buncrana, where they were defeated by the smallest of margins 1-08 to 1-07. As this competition was open to all schools in Donegal it was a great achievement as the girls were competing against much larger schools. 48 schools took part in the competition so well done to our girls on a great achievement!

Football Blitz

We went up to the AstroTurf recently for two blitzes with our local schools – Frosses, St. Peters and Killian.

Our teams performed well on both days and it was a great opportunity for the pupils of all the schools to come together and play some sport.

Cross Country County Finals!

We had a very good day out in Lifford at the Primary Schools Cross Country County Finals. All the children ran a great race and we came home with team winners medals for the U9 girls, U11 boys and U11 girls.

Our U11 Girls team came home as Small Schools Cross Country County Champions, while our U9 Girls team came second and our U11 Boys team came third.

Everyone was delighted with their performance and we are very proud of them all – the whole school came out to welcome them back on their arrival!

Well done everyone!

5-A-Side Soccer
5-A-Side Soccer

On the 12th April our boys soccer team travelled to Ballyare in Letterkenny on the school bus. We had won our local division unbeaten at Eany Celtic the previous Friday on a very wet day.

When we arrived in Ballyare, our first match was against Keadue. The match was very even and the points were shared as we drew 1-1, our goal coming from Odhrán. Our second match was against Dobhar. The result was the same as our first game, with Dermot scoring the goal against a very strong team.

The next game was against Umlagh. Again we drew , this time with a scoreline of 2-2 with goals from Alex and Dermot. In our final game we were beaten by Comín. They were an all round strong team and went on to win the game 3-1. This team actually went on to win the whole tournament.

We cannot forget Oisín as he made some very important saves and William was very pivotal in our performances as he took every opportunity to close down the opposing defenders.

At the end of a great day we got to stop in the shop. We done to our panel Oisín, William, Fearghal, Alex, Dara, Dermot, Aaron and Odhrán.

Report by Dermot.
