Active Week Day 4 – Pupils Cycle
Active Week Day 4 – Pupils Cycle

A very busy day today during our Active Week saw our pupils cycle take place! The Infants, 1st & 2nd Class Pupils carried out cycling activities on the school yards, while the pupils from 3rd-6th Classes went on a cycle to The Warren beach in Inver. Luckily the weather was kind to us for the day and we were able to get all our activities completed. Our thanks to Sean Gallagher, who has been instrumental in organising all of our cycling activities over the past number of years – and this year was no exception. Thanks also to everyone else who helped out today.

Active Week Day 3
Active Week Day 2

Today was Sports Day and competition was strong between the four teams. The day began with sprints followed by our wellie throw and ended with the spud and spoon race. All competitors received wonderful support from their teammates and a very enjoyable day was had by all.

Active School Week Day 1

We started the first day of Active School Week with a Wake Up, Shake Up routine led by our Active Flag Committee.
This was followed by games including a penalty shoot out by the Senior classes and parachute games for the Juniors on the Astroturf and the yard. We practised relay races after lunch in preparation for Sports Day tomorrow.

Active School Week – Monday!
Active School Week – Monday!

A sunny day and we started off with the whole school assembling in the yard for ‘Wake Up, Shake Up’ exercises which were demonstrated by our Active Committee. The classes then split into their own yard spaces and began to partake in some fun activities. The Junior Room had running races organised which proved to be very popular. Mrs McGroary’s class played traffic lights and four corners, while Mr. McDermott’s class enjoyed a competitive game of Unihoc. Master O’Donnell’s class started off playing chains and later went in to the GP room for an exciting game of skittles.

A big thank you to Damien Friel from Eany Celtic Football Club, who arrived after break time and kindly set up Mrs Gavigan’s and Mrs McGroary’s classes with a very enjoyable session on football drills and skills. Mrs Gavigan’s class were also delighted to play a novelty game in the yard during the lunch break.

The afternoon kicked off with the challenge of getting through a fun obstacle course for all classes – followed by skipping, basketball and the beanbag throw! A great start to our Active Week!

Active Week – Thursday
Active Week – Thursday

The weather decided that it was not going to cooperative with our  plans for outside activities on Thursday, so all our activities took place in the school hall. We held various events, including a skipathon for the 3rd & 4th Class pupils!

Active Week – Wednesday – Cycle to the Beach

While our Infants to 2nd Class pupils took part in sports activities at the school, our 3rd-6th Class pupils spent the morning on a cycle to the beach. After their walk to the Warren yesterday they certainly enjoyed the cycle there today! Our thanks to Sean Gallagher for organising the cycle, and to Enya, Grace, Paul and Kevin for their assistance.
