Making Books for the Infants!
Making Books for the Infants!

Every year the children of 5th & 6th Classes write a book for each child in the Infant Room. Every Senior pupil is paired with a Junior or Senior Infant. They interview them, and then write a story which is typed into a short book with pictures tailor made for each Infant! All the 5th & 6th Class pupils enjoy this project and hopefully the Infants will enjoy their books when they are ready! Preparations have started with the interview stage!

School Tours 2017
School Tours 2017

We took two separate tours this year to the same venue – Finn Valley Centre. All the children took part in a day of sporting activities and games and some of them even got to meet boxer Jason Quigley and see the coastguard helicopter up close!

Our thanks to the Parents Association for their contribution towards the cost of the buses for the tours. The children all had a fantastic day out and arrived home happy and tired!

Extension Opening
Extension Opening

The opening of the new extension took place at the end of the school year 2016/2017. An opening ceremony and blessing was held on the day and the extension was opened by Fr. Seamus Gallagher, Chairperson of the Board of Management, along with Rose Meehan, the longest serving employee of St. Naul’s N.S. Also present were Councillor Noel Jordan, a great supporter of the school, and Brendan McCole, past pupil and current county GAA player.

All the children presented a show based on the theme of our new school logo, and the songs and stories were much enjoyed by all present!

Summer Cycle 2017
Summer Cycle 2017

The Parents Association of St. Naul’s National School would like to thank everyone who came along to support our fundraising walk/cycle/run over the summer holidays. This is an important fundraiser for the school and all the support from the local and school community was much appreciated.

The events began with the children’s cycle, when the younger children took part in cycling activities on the school yard, while the older children undertook a cycle route along the road (with their Garda escort!). They all had great fun and helped to raise money for the school.

We then held our annual cycle/walk/run, which this year incorporated a 5k walk/run or a 30/60k cycle. As always, this event was well supported by our local school and wider community.

In particular, we would like to thank Sean Gallagher for all his work every year in organising the event, and Brian McCabe for the organisation of the walk/run. Thanks to all the Guards, Drivers, First Aiders, Marshals, Timekeepers, people who helped with posters and signage, registration, parking, and those who helped with refreshments on the day. Particular thanks also to some of the sponsors for the day, namely Malachy Byrne of Byrnes Butchers in Dunkineely, Brenda Gallagher of Brenda’s Beauty Salon in Inver, and Tom Dunleavy of Holmes Service Station in Donegal Town.
